What 12 means

On U-Line 15-inch nugget ice makers such as the UONB115, UHNB115 and UANP115, the display shows 12 when the water level is low. The reservoir is not receiving enough water for the machine to keep making nugget ice. The panel prints the plain number, not E12. Ice output drops or stops while the level stays low, and the display holds 12 until water returns.

Common causes of 12

  • The water supply to the reservoir is reduced
  • The water line or valve is not delivering enough
  • The level reading is low while the reservoir is not full
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Make sure the water shutoff valve behind the unit is fully open. 2. Check the supply line for a kink or a pinch. 3. Confirm other taps in the house are flowing normally. 4. Switch the machine off for a minute, then back on. 5. If 12 returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Low water has several sources, from the valve to the line to the reservoir
  • Running a nugget machine short of water strains the parts that move ice
  • We quote in writing first and stand behind the work for 30 days
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

1212 questions
What does 12 mean on my nugget ice maker?

It means the control reads water level low: not enough water is getting into the reservoir. Ice making slows or halts, and 12 stays on the display until the level recovers.

Does the display say E12?

No. On these 15-inch models the number appears on its own as 12. It replaces the E12 label that older listings used for the same low water message.

Should I check the water valve first?

Yes. A shutoff valve that is only partly open starves the reservoir. Opening it fully and checking the line for a kink is safe, and if 12 persists after that, we take over.
