U-Line ice machines such as the UONB115, UHNP315 and UCLR1215 show E6 when Thermistor 2 reads shorted. The second temperature sensor sends a signal that looks like a direct short to the control, so the temperature value is unusable. The display shows E6 and the machine makes less ice until the circuit is fixed. Open instead of shorted, the same sensor shows E2.
1. Turn the machine off for one minute and turn it back on. 2. Wipe up any water around the cabinet. 3. Check that the bin door closes fully. 4. Leave covers closed. 5. Should E6 come back, call us.
With E6 on the display, Thermistor 2 is shorted, the shorted version of E2, which reports the same sensor open. Both codes involve the same sensor, so the circuit is tested the same way for either one.
A restart clears a one-time bad reading. A truly shorted sensor brings the code back soon after, and then the circuit has to be tested to find the short.
You can run it while you watch ice output. If it stops making ice or you see water around it, switch it off and call us.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
