U-Line Class Series, 1000 Series and 2000 Series beverage centers display E1 when Thermistor 1 reads open. Thermistor 1 is one of the temperature sensors the control uses to judge compartment temperature, and an open reading means the control has lost the signal from it. The cabinet stays powered, but its temperature control now works with one reading missing. The code stays on the display until the reading returns.
1. Switch the unit off at the control, wait one minute, then turn it back on. 2. Make sure nothing is stacked against the back wall or the vents. 3. Note whether E1 returns right away or hours later. 4. Do not pull on wires or open any panel. 5. If E1 returns, call us.
E1 means Thermistor 1 is reading open. The control has lost the signal from that temperature sensor. It applies to Class, 1000 and 2000 Series beverage centers.
E1 is Thermistor 1 open, meaning no signal comes back. E5 is Thermistor 1 shorted, meaning the circuit reads as a direct connection. Both involve the same sensor but describe opposite conditions.
The cabinet normally keeps cooling, though temperature control is less exact. Check the temperature with a separate thermometer for a day, and call us if the readings drift from the setting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
