What E7 means

On U-Line Echelon 2000 refrigerators with the 2010 control, such as the 2175DWRR and the 2275ZWC, E7 means thermistor 2 is open or shorted. The control reads the second temperature sensor as a broken or shorted circuit, and the sensor needs replacement. You see E7 on the display. This code is not available on the 2175RF. The code stays on the display until the sensor circuit reads normally again.

Common causes of E7

  • A thermistor 2 that has failed open or shorted
  • Damaged sensor wiring
  • A poor plug connection
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Write down the code. 2. Unplug the unit for one minute and plug it back in. 3. Check that the door seals fully. 4. If E7 shows again, call us. The sensor has to be replaced and the panels stay closed until we arrive.

! Why to stop there
  • The sensor sits inside the cabinet behind panels
  • The right replacement sensor matters for accurate readings
  • Guessing leaves the second sensor circuit unresolved
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E7E7 questions
Is E7 the same as E1?

No. E1 is an open thermistor 1. E7 covers thermistor 2, open or shorted, and applies to models that carry a second sensor. The 2175RF does not show E7. Both are sensor circuit codes, so each calls for a meter test.

Does E7 tell me whether it is open or shorted?

The code covers both. Either way the sensor is replaced, so we confirm the circuit with a meter and swap the part. We do not guess; the measured reading decides.

Can I keep using the unit?

Yes for a short time, but temperature control from that sensor is not reliable. Check the cabinet with a separate thermometer until we complete the repair. Door openings and loading add heat while the sensor is out.
