On U-Line Origins 1000 refrigerators, such as the 1115R, the 1175R and the 1175BEV, code E1 means the thermistor is open. The control sees a broken temperature sensor circuit, so it has no good reading of the cabinet. E1 shows on the display. The same E1 label on the Echelon 2000 control names thermistor 1 specifically, while on Origins there is a single thermistor.
1. Note the code and the model. 2. Unplug the unit for one minute and plug it back in. 3. Keep the door closed and check the gasket. 4. If E1 returns, call us and check food temperature in the meantime.
E1 means the cabinet thermistor is open. The control cannot read the cabinet temperature from a broken circuit, so the display shows the code. That sensor is the single thermistor on Origins models.
A restart clears a one-time glitch. An open thermistor circuit brings E1 back, and then the sensor or plug needs a test. Keep the door closed while you wait.
Check with a separate thermometer. Above 41 F, move perishables elsewhere. We repair the sensor circuit with a written price first and a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
