U-Line 1000 Series units such as the 1215BEV and 2000 Series units such as the 2224DWR show E3 when Thermistor 3 reads open. That means the control has lost the signal from its third temperature sensor. The display carries E3, and the control manages the cabinet with one fewer reading than it expects. Its shorted counterpart is E7. The code stays up until the signal returns.
1. Unplug the unit for a minute, then plug it back in. 2. Check that vents and the rear of the cabinet are clear. 3. Watch the interior temperature with a thermometer. 4. Do not open panels or tug on wires. 5. Call us if E3 returns.
E3 means Thermistor 3 is open, so the control gets no signal from the third temperature sensor. It follows the same open-sensor pattern as E1, E2 and E4.
For the 1000 Series 1215BEV and 2000 Series 2224DWR, E3 is Thermistor 3 open. Descriptions written for older Echelon-type units do not apply to these models.
If the cabinet holds the right temperature, a visit within a few days is fine. If drinks are warming or the unit runs nonstop, call right away.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
