On U-Line Echelon 2000 refrigerators with the 2010 control that carry a third sensor, E8 means thermistor 3 is open or shorted. The control reads that circuit as broken. The code is not available on the refrigerator (R) models, the wine cabinets (WC) or the CLR2160, so you see it only on models such as the 2175DWRR or the CLRCO2175.
1. Write down E8 and the model. 2. Unplug for one minute and restore power. 3. Keep the door closed and the air vents clear. 4. If E8 returns, call us. The sensor circuit needs a meter test and the panels stay closed.
The Echelon R models, the WC models and the CLR2160 do not have the third sensor circuit, so E8 cannot occur there. Models that have the sensor are the only ones that report it.
The control reads thermistor 3 as broken, so that area is not regulated from a good signal. We confirm by measuring the sensor and replace it. Bring up the model number when you call so we bring the right sensor.
Most E8 repairs finish in one visit once the part is on the truck. We quote the price in writing before starting and the repair carries a 30-day warranty. Door openings add heat.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
