On U-Line Origins 1000 refrigerators, such as the 1115R, the 1175R and the 1175WC, E3 means the door has been open for longer than 20 minutes. It is an alert about the door, not about a failed part. Closing the door fully clears it. The same E3 on Echelon 2000 models covers the main door or the bottom drawer. The alert appears on the display until the door closes.
1. Close the door firmly. 2. Move any bottle or shelf that keeps it ajar. 3. Wipe the gasket and check that it sits flat. 4. Watch whether E3 leaves the display. 5. If E3 stays with the door shut, call us.
The door stayed open for more than 20 minutes, and the control raised E3. Closing the door ends the alert. It clears the moment the door is shut.
The control still reads the door as open, which points to the door switch or its alignment. We test it and replace what is needed.
Room air warms the cabinet fast. Check temperatures after a long open period and discard perishables that sat above 41 F for hours. Once the door is closed the unit cools back down on its own.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
