Thermistor 1 is shorted whenever a U-Line 1000 Series or 2000 Series wine cooler shows E5. The first temperature sensor is passing a signal the control reads as a short, so it cannot use that reading. You see E5 on the display. Older listings gave this code another meaning. The open reading for the same sensor is E1.
1. Let the cooler sit off for a minute, then start it. 2. Check the cabinet against a separate thermometer. 3. Look for moisture at the back. 4. Do not remove any panel. 5. Call us if E5 comes back.
The first temperature sensor circuit reads short, so Thermistor 1 is shorted and the control cannot use it.
E1 is Thermistor 1 open, while E5 is Thermistor 1 shorted. Both involve the first sensor.
Check the cabinet with a thermometer. If it holds steady, book a visit. If it warms, move the wine and call us.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
