On U-Line Origins 1000 refrigerators, such as the 1115WC, the 1175WC and the 1175BEV, code E2 means the thermistor is shorted. The control reads the cabinet sensor as a direct short rather than a changing resistance, so it has no usable temperature. E2 appears on the display. On Echelon 2000 models the same label points to thermistor 1. The cabinet temperature is not regulated from a good reading while E2 shows.
1. Write down the code and the model. 2. Unplug for one minute, then plug back in. 3. Check that nothing blocks the vents or the door. 4. If E2 shows again, call us and watch the cabinet temperature. 5. Wait several minutes for the display to settle.
E1 is an open thermistor and E2 is a shorted thermistor. Both are sensor circuit failures, and both lead to a sensor or wiring repair.
Moisture at the sensor plug can create a short. We dry and test the connection and replace the sensor if the reading does not return to normal.
We test the sensor circuit, replace the failed part and confirm the display returns to its normal view. The price is quoted in writing and the repair has a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
