On U-Line Origins 1000 refrigerators, such as the 1115R, the 1175R and the 1175WC, E5 means the actual cabinet temperature sat 10 degrees above the set point for more than 6 hours. The display shows E5 when the cabinet cannot catch up. On Echelon 2000 the same code uses a 12-hour window. The unit keeps running, but the cabinet stays too warm for food storage, so check temperatures promptly.
1. Check that the door is closed and sealing. 2. Look at the set point on the display. 3. Clear space around the cabinet and vacuum the grille with the unit unplugged. 4. Hold off on loading warm items. 5. If E5 stays after a day, call us.
E5 shows when the cabinet stays 10 degrees above the set point for more than 6 hours. At a 38 F set point that is 48 F, well above safe food temperatures. Wait a full day after a new plug-in before judging.
A big warm load slows cooling and can raise E5. Give it time, and if the code stays after a day, the cooling itself needs a check.
We check airflow, condenser, seals and the temperature drop, then test the refrigeration system. You get a written price and a 30-day warranty. Call us if it repeats.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
