On U-Line Echelon 2000 refrigerators with the 2010 electronic control, such as the 2175RF or the 2275ZWC, code E1 means thermistor 1 is open. The control sees a broken circuit where the main temperature sensor should report a reading. You see E1 on the display, and the cabinet is no longer regulated from a good sensor signal. The code does not appear on the CLR2160.
1. Write down the code exactly as shown. 2. Unplug the unit for one minute, then plug it back in and watch the display. 3. Make sure nothing is pressed against the cabinet or the cord. 4. If E1 returns, stop troubleshooting and call us. Do not open any panels or probe wiring yourself.
E1 reports an open reading on thermistor 1. Without a good sensor signal the control cannot hold temperature accurately, so the cabinet reading is not trustworthy. Check food temperature with a separate thermometer until the repair is done.
A one-minute power-off clears a one-time glitch, but an open sensor circuit brings E1 right back. If it returns after restart, the circuit itself needs testing.
We test the thermistor and its plug, confirm the open circuit, replace the part that is open, and verify the display returns to the set point. You get the price in writing first, and the work carries a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
