What E2 means

Thermistor 2 is open when a U-Line 1000 Series or 2000 Series wine cooler shows E2. That is the second temperature sensor, and its circuit is not complete, so the control cannot read it. Some older listings gave E2 another meaning, but on these series the code is a sensor reading. Its shorted counterpart is E6.

Common causes of E2

  • Thermistor 2 has opened
  • The sensor lead is damaged
  • The sensor connection is loose
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Power the cooler down for a minute, then start it again. 2. Set a thermometer in the cabinet to see the real temperature. 3. Wipe up any moisture at the back. 4. Leave all panels in place. 5. Call us if E2 comes back.

! Why to stop there
  • Telling a sensor from its wiring needs a test meter
  • Older charts gave a different meaning for E2, so guesses lead to the wrong part
  • We tell you the price first and warrant our work for 30 days
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E2E2 questions
What is the E2 code telling me?

The second temperature sensor is not completing its circuit, so Thermistor 2 reads open and the control skips it.

I read a different meaning for E2 elsewhere. Which is right?

Older listings from a different platform gave E2 another meaning. On 1000 and 2000 Series coolers, E2 is Thermistor 2 open, and we diagnose by that reading.

How do E2 and E6 compare?

They involve the same sensor. E2 is open, and E6 is shorted. We check which condition the control is reporting.
